Witness interview

Lyudmila S. explains: "Not only did see the mass shootings, but I also heard them. There was a well in the field. Jews were taken to this place. They were not executed, the poor people, they were thrown into the well alive." (Witness N°124, interviewed in Berezivka on December 29, 2004).

Historical note

Berezivka is located at 55 kilometers from Feodosya in Crimea. There was before the war a Jewish kolkhoz and the most of the Jews lived from agriculture.

Holocaust by bullets in figures

According to Yahad’s investigation, the Jewish houses were marked with yellow star. Then, the Jews were gathered by the Germans. Ludmila S. (N°124) remembered that the Jews were taken in the field of the kolkhoze where there was a well. They weren’t shot but thrown alive into the well. For Vilior B. (N°122), the execution took place  in December 1941.
