Witness interview

Lyubov K. remembered: "They collected clothes and brought them to a club that existed at that time. There they were sorted. I do not know what they did with the best ones, but the clothes that had little value were sold." (Witness N°542, interviewed in Vysotsk, on January 02, 2008)

Soviet archives

"After the shooting, they picked me to fill the pit. I saw very clearly that all the bodies were lying in rows and that the entire pit was filled with blood to the point that only the bodies on top were visible. Even though there were people alive at the bottom of the pit, we couldn’t hear their cries while we filled the pit." [RG-22.002M/7013-67/85]

German archives

“I survived the massacre which took place 40 minutes after the massacre of the first group. Half-undressed, I walked to the graves. All around me, there were policemen and SS-men. I approached the graves and heard some screams. I was only 20 and I didn’t want to die. I managed to escape in to the forest.”[B162-7286]

Historical note

Holocaust by bullets in figures

During the liquidation of the ghetto on September 9, 1942, 1,600 to 1,800 Jews were killed. The mass shooting was perpetrated by the Security Police of Pinsk. The Jews were in two graves about 2.5 kilometers outside of town. The Gendarmerie and local police forces from Stolin, Vysotsk and Davidgrodek participated in this Aktion.
