“It was a column of four people in rows. The girls stopped and told my mother “Good-bye Aunt Valia, good-bye grandmother, they are taking us.” My grandmother was very moved. They were taken to the other stable which was close to the grave; they got undressed there and were then shot. After the first shooting, a grave was dug and the corpses were buried inside. After a while, the Romanians began to burn the corpses after the shooting. They poured gasoline and burned them. It was like a scene from Judgement Day; there were some people who were in the grave alive. We saw their hands through the fire – it was terrible. They weren’t shot the same day, but in groups a few days apart from each other.”
