Vladimir S. (N°69): "In the camp, Jews received shovels and had to dig a pit. They were all shot on the same day. There were about a hundred of them. I heard the machine gun fire. Jews were buried by requisitioned villagers the following day." (Witness N°69, interviewed in Ostyor, on December 5, 2009).
Ostyor is located 10 kilometers south of Roslavl.
The village was occupied by the Wehrmacht in summer 1941. In August 1941, 300 Jews from Bielorussia arrived in Ostyor in order to extract peat. They were all shot in September 1941.
