Witness interview

Aleksandr Ch. recalls: "No, the Germans who came by here were not interested in the Jews. The Germans who came later, for the Jews, were soldiers from a special detachment, they had another uniform than the one of the ordinary Germans. The Germans who passed through the village had a greyish uniform; those from the special detachment had a yellow uniform." (Eyewitness N°294, interviewed in Temirgoyevskaya, on April 10, 2012)

Soviet archives

"On September 16, 1942, according the order of German major, the local police arrested us with others Jewish families. We were taken to the police building situated in the village of Petropavlovkaya. We stayed there three nights. Then, my mother and my brother were loaded on a truck that took them to the kolkhoz "Stalin" where they were shot. The bodies were thrown into a well. The police officer A.S. Tarasenko spared me." [Deposition of Raisa N., born in 1926, a child from a mixt mariage; RG-22.002M/7021-16/141]
