Varvara B. recalled: "I saw other mass shootings like the execution of this woman who told me farewell before being executed by a policeman."

Historical note

Berezove is located 32 kilometers north-northeast of Rokitno. In 1921, there were 58

Jews residing in the village. By the 1930s,there were 100 Jews. 

Holocaust by bullets in figures

The German occupation began in July 1941. At the end of September 1941, local Ukrainians, on their own initiative, killed Jews in the small villages of Vitkovits and Tupik. In August 1942, a ghetto was established in Berezovo. On September 11, 1942, 50 Jews were shot by the German police and assisted by Ukrainian auxiliary policemen.
