Ivan Gregoryevich F. evokes: "I saw fifteen-twenty Jews, they had their bags, were discussing together. They were taken to the brickyard. There, they were shot. There were men, women, children… I saw this through my window." (Witness N°187, interviewed in Mechetinskaya, on September 25, 2011).
Metchetinskaya is a Cossack village in the district of Zernograd. In 1941, there were 12 Jews in the village.
In 1941, many refugees arrived in the village which was occupied by the Germans on July 29, 1941. In October 1942, nearly 170 Jewish refugees were shot by the gendarmerie and local police.
