During the 19th century, 630 Jews lived in the village. They worked as artisans or traders. 45 families worked in the Jewish kolkhoz called « Naye Lebn » in 1923. The Germans occupied the village on August 10, 1941.
After the start of the occupation, 10 to 12 Jews were taken prisoner. They were confined for several days and then taken to the Jewish cemetery outside of the village. They were forced to dig a grave before being shot. The killing was perpetrated by local policemen. At the end of November 1941, the Germans carried out an Aktion at the school. The majority of the group was comprised of women and children, who were forced into groups and marched to the nearby silo. They were shot inside. According to several sources, 115 Jews perished in the village during the war.
