There were around 490 Jews in the village at the end of the 19th century. The majority of them were artisans or traders. Before the war, there were 40 Jewish families in the village. The German occupation began on August 10, 1941.
During the autumn of 1941, the 40 Jewish families were shot. According to the historian, Martin Dean, these families were shot in the Jewish cemetery or near a forest.
