Entrevista del testigo

Anna Tch. recalls: “Their rabbi made a speech saying that their time had come, that it had been written like that...It is difficult to talk about this, I wish God never does this again. There were Jews and even Ukrainians who were listening to him. He was speaking in their language. Then, they were put in the trucks. Women had white headscarves. I didn’t see men, so I don’t know if they were taken later or before the women.” (Witness N°449, interwied in Kysylyn, on March 30, 2007)

Nota histórica

Kysylyn is located about 40 km (25 miles) south of Kovel and about 32 kilometers (20 miles) west- northwest of Lutsk. According to the census of 1921, 94 Jews lived in the village. The village was occupied by Germans at the end of June 1941.

Holocausto por balas en cifras

The first anti-Jewish actions started at the end of summer beginning of autumn 1941. All Jews were forced to wear distinguishing badges. They were subjected to force labor, assaults and robbery. First 48 Jews were executed on August 19, 1941 on the outskirts of the village. From the first days of November, 1941 a closed ghetto was established and existed till August 1942 when it was totally liquidated by Germans who were helped by Ukrainian police. As a result about 500-550 Jews were murdered during this Aktion.
