Maria D. : "The Jews were locked in a building. They had to work in quarries breaking stones. They slept on straw. They were always starving and were too weak to run away." (Witness N°1086 interviewed in December, 2010)
Vyshneve is a village situated between the cities of Dnipropetrovsk and Krivyi Rih. There was a significant Jewish population before the war. The village was under German occupation between 1941 and 1943.
Jews from the village and the region were imprisoned in kolkhoze buildings. They were forced to perform various kinds of hard labor, and they especially had to build the section of the DG IV road between Dnipropetrovsk and Krivyi Rih. They were shot in grain pits during different actions.
